Ode an die Freude – oder Beethovens Neunte
Dieser Virtual Cache soll an Ludwig van Beethoven und eines seiner bekanntesten Werke erinnern. Das Musikstück, was auch als europäische Hymne international bekannt ist.
Beethoven, der wahrscheinlich berühmteste Sohn Bonns, wurde im Dezember 1770 in der Bonngasse geboren und hat seine Kindheit und ersten Jahre als Komponist hier verbracht. Dementsprechend präsent ist er auch heute noch im Stadtbild. Beethovenhalle, Beethovenstraße, Beethovenstatuen und Beethovendenkmäler – er ist überall. Und das bekannteste Denkmal steht direkt vor dem Postamt auf dem Münsterplatz. Zum 200sten Todesjahr 2027 sind in Bonn große Feierlichkeiten geplant (zum Glück ist die Halle mittlerweile fertig...). Gestorben ist der große Komponist 1827 in Wien, dort liegt er auch auf dem Zentralfriedhof begraben.
Die Ode an die Freude stammt eigentlich von Schiller, allerdings hat Beethoven in seiner neunten Sinfonie im vierten Satz den Text musikalisch unterlegt und vertont. Ode to Joy – or Beethoven's Ninth
This Virtual Cache is dedicated to Ludwig van Beethoven and one of his most famous works, a piece of music known internationally as the European Anthem.
Beethoven, arguably Bonn’s most famous son, was born in the Bonngasse in December 1770 and spent his childhood and early years as a composer here. Consequently, he remains very present in the cityscape today. Beethovenhalle, Beethovenstraße, Beethoven statues, and memorials—he is everywhere. His most famous monument stands directly in front of the post office on Münsterplatz. Major celebrations are planned in Bonn for the 200th anniversary of his death in 2027 (thankfully, the concert hall is finally finished by now...). The great composer passed away in 1827 in Vienna, where he is buried at the Central Cemetery.
The "Ode to Joy" was originally a poem by Schiller, but Beethoven set the text to music in the fourth movement of his Ninth Symphony. This composition is what we primarily associate with those words today.
