Molo Południowe - Gdynia - South Pier
Molo Południowe w Gdyni to pirs o długości 626,45 m,
będący przedłużeniem znacznie popularniejszego Skweru Kościuszki.
Przez wiele osób, także mieszkańców Gdyni,
ta część Śródmieścia jest w całości mylnie nazywana Skwerem Kościuszki.
Tymczasem to właśnie Molo Południowe może pochwalić się znacznie większą liczbą atrakcji i ciekawą historią.
Molo Południowe powstawało równolegle z budową Portu Gdynia w latach 30. XX wieku. Budowa zaczęła się w 1934 roku i od razu miała to być przestrzeń rekreacyjna, którą jest do dziś.
Przez środek pirsu biegnie al. Jana Pawła II, która niegdyś nosiła nazwę al. Zjednoczenia Ziem Polskich.
To oś widokowa Gdyni, przy której stoją ważne pomniki - m.in. kamienny pomnik jednego z najwybitniejszych polskich marynistów - Józefa Konrada Korzeniowskiego.
Na końcu mola, po lewej stronie (patrząc w stronę morza)
jest Aleja Statków Pasażerskich z gwiazdami największych i najciekawszych wycieczkowców,
które odwiedziły Gdynię.
Po prawej, wśród morskich fal, ok. 40 metrów od brzegu można natomiast zobaczyć kamienny cokół z rzeźbą Marzyciela - Dyrygenta Fal.
Bliżej Skweru Kościuszki cumują statki pasażerskie i tramwaje wodne, które oferują rejsy do Helu i Jastarni oraz ogromne żaglowce,
w tym szkoleniowy "Dar Młodzieży", żaglowiec muzeum "Dar Pomorza".
Jest też okręt-muzeum ORP "Błyskawica", co roku notujący rekordową liczbę odwiedzin.
Naprzeciwko znajdziemy budynki Uniwersytetu Morskiego.
Mimo tych wszystkich atrakcji, wielu turystów i mieszkańców
odwiedza Molo Południowe dla widoku samej natury.
To stąd rozpościera się najlepszy w Gdyni widok Zatoki Gdańskiej.
Na północy widać zalesione wzgórza Oksywia, przy dobrej widoczności półwysep helski,
a wieczorem latarnie morskie w Jastarni, na Helu oraz w Gdańsku.

South Pier - Gdynia - South Pier
The South Pier in Gdynia is a 626.45-meter-long pier,
an extension of the much more popular Kościuszko Square.
Many people, including Gdynia residents,
mistakenly call this entire part of the city center Kosciuszko Square.
However, it is the South Pier that boasts a much larger number of attractions and an interesting history.
The South Pier was built concurrently with the construction of the Port of Gdynia in the 1930s. Construction began in 1934 and was originally intended to be a recreational space, which it remains to this day.
John Paul II Avenue, formerly known as Zjednoczenia Ziem Polskich Avenue, runs through the center of the pier.
This is Gdynia's scenic axis, flanked by important monuments, including a stone monument to one of Poland's greatest seafarers, Józef Konrad Korzeniowski.
At the end of the pier, on the left (looking towards the sea),
is the Passenger Ship Alley, featuring the stars of the largest and most interesting cruise ships
that have visited Gdynia.
On the right, amidst the sea waves, about 40 meters from the shore, you can see a stone plinth with a sculpture of the Dreamer – Conductor of Waves.
Closer to Kościuszko Square are passenger ships and water trams offering cruises to Hel and Jastarnia, as well as large sailing ships,
including the training ship "Dar Młodzieży" and the museum sailing ship "Dar Pomorza."
There is also the museum ship ORP "Błyskawica," which sees record numbers of visitors every year.
Opposite, we find the buildings of the Maritime University.
Despite all these attractions, many tourists and locals
visit the Southern Pier for the view of nature itself.
It is from here that the best view of the Bay of Gdańsk in Gdynia can be enjoyed.
To the north, you can see the forested hills of Oksywie, and with good visibility, the Hel Peninsula,
and in the evening, the lighthouses in Jastarnia, Hel, and Gdańsk.
