Ooghoogte, dat klinkt als een hint maar deze keer is het gewoon de cache. Je bevindt je hier bij een kunstwerk dat uitkijkt op een mooi uitzicht.
Het kunstwerk Ooghoogte is een uitkijk- en rustpunt dat werd ontworpen door het kunstenaarscollectief ‘Observatorium'. Het is een ode aan het landschap. Het werk biedt een venster van 360 graden op het glooiende open kouterlandschap van het Plateau van Duisburg. De gebogen vormen van het kunstwerk verwijzen naar het golvende plateaulandschap met de kenmerkende holle wegen. Met een beeldende ingreep, die ook van ver zichtbaar is, willen de kunstenaars mensen uitnodigen de verscheidenheid van de omgeving met haar kenmerkend lappendeken van akkers, bossen en holle wegen te ervaren.
Het kunstwerk Ooghoogte waar je momenteel voor staat is het resultaat van een participatietraject dat in 2022 is opgestart. De opdrachtgevers - inwoners van Huldenberg en Bertem, lokale landbouwers en vertegenwoordigers van de cultuurraden - willen met het kunstwerk een bijdrage leveren aan het ontsluiten van de schoonheid van het landschap rondom het Plateau van Duisburg.
Robert Esselinckx, inwoner van Leefdaal en deelnemer aan het participatietraject, schreef het gedicht dat men kan terugvinden op het kunstwerk.

Eye level, that sounds like a hint, but this time it is just the cache. You are here at an artwork that overlooks a beautiful view.
The artwork Eye Level is a lookout and resting point designed by the artist collective 'Observatorium'. It is an ode to the landscape. The work offers a 360-degree window on the rolling open field landscape of the Duisburg Plateau. The curved shapes of the artwork refer to the undulating plateau landscape with the characteristic hollow ways. With a visual intervention, which is also visible from afar, the artists want to invite people to experience the diversity of the surroundings with its characteristic patchwork of fields, forests, and hollow ways.
The artwork Eye Level that you are currently standing in front of is the result of a participatory project that was started in 2022. The clients – residents of Huldenberg and Bertem, local farmers, and representatives of the cultural councils – want to contribute, with the artwork, to unlocking the beauty of the landscape around the Duisburg Plateau.
Robert Esselinckx, a resident of Leefdaal and participant in the participatory project, wrote the poem that can be found on the artwork.
