Geocache Description:

Welcome to our first Virtual Reward 5.0. dalerious and I thank Geocaching.com for giving us the opportunity to publish this very special cache type, about a very special seafaring duo.

To claim this Virtual all you need to do is locate TRIM'S pawprints. There are a set of his pawprints on the balustrade in front of Trim, and there is another set on ground level below the statue of his Master, Matthew Flinders. Once you have located either set of prints, take a photo of you, or something special to you, with the pawprints in the picture. Then post the image with your log. It's as simple as that.

My love affair of this Feline and his Master happened many years ago. I have read almost every book written about Trim and Matthew, but my favourite is a book called TRIM, that Matthew wrote himself. I have never read a book with such endearments between a Captain and a ship's cat.

Not long after I bacame a Geocacher, I published my first TravelBug, aptly named TRIM. You may like to Discover TRIM by using the tracking code: T11A34 (TB6217Y).

dalerious and I would like to thank you for visiting our cache, and hope you take the time to Paws and Reflect on the Life of this truly dynamic duo of the Sea. No Feline and his Master were more deservant of A FAVOURITE POINT than thee.

Congratulations JG9172 for your FTF on our first Virtual.

To the memory of

Trim

The best and most illustrious of his race,

The most affectionate of friends,

Faithful of servants,

And best of creatures.

He made the tour of the globe, and the voyage to Australia,

Which he circumnavigated; and he was ever the delight and pleasure of his fellow voyagers.

Returning to Europe in 1803, he was shipwrecked in the Great Equinoxial Ocean;

This danger he escaped, he sought refuge and assistance at the Isle De France,

Where he was made prisoner, contrary to the laws of Justice, of Humanity, and of French National Faith;

And where, alas! he terminated his useful career, by an untimely death,

Being devoured by the Catophagi of that Island.

Many a time have I beheld his little merriments with delight,

An his superior intelligence with surprise:

Never will his like be seen again!

Trim was born in the Southern Indian Ocean, in the Year 1799, and perished as above at the Isle De France in 1804.

Peace be to his shade, and Honour to his Memory.

These words were written by Captain Matthew Flinders:
