Port Arthur is a township in south eastern Tasmania which is best known for the location of the Port Arthur Historic Site. The historic site is an Australian National Heritage listed location and a UNESCO World Heritage site, being the best preserved convict settlement in Australia. It is located in a beautiful cove and spans over 40 hectares with more than 30 historic buildings to explore. As well as exploring the buildings and ruins, there are stunning grounds, intereactive displays and art works to explore.
Port Arthur has become a major tourist area and as well as the Historic Site, offers beautiful beaches, lovely coastal walks and fantastic boat and helicoptor tours to the nearby Tasman Island. It is the location where the iconic Three Capes Walk starts.
