Geocache Description:

Tin Miner Statue - Virtual Reward 5.0

The Tin Miner Statue, a local landmark in Redruth town centre tands as a tribute to the mining heritage of the area. This striking and prominant statue depicts a miner with outstretched arms holding a pickaxe and an ingot, resembling a scene reminiscent of crucifixion. The powerful imagery and attention to detail make it an important symbol of the region's history and culture.

The bronze sculpture on a granite plinth stands two metres tall and was produced by artist David Annand of Fyfe, Scotland.

The sculpture was commissioned in 2008 by the Redruth Public Realm Working Party's Mining Art Group. Sadly, the seating area around the statue can frequent teenagers hanging around and other somewhat curious characters. The monument is also the victim of unncesscary mindless vandalism sometimes.

To claim a find, simply post a picture of you or your GPS/device with the statue and post in the log.
