St Faith’s is the parish church of Lee-on-the-Solent. The Anglican community in Lee dates from the foundation of the town in the 1880s. The first church was a “tin tabernacle” that was gifted to the community by the towns founder, Sir J.C. Robinson. It was built as a temporary measure during the towns development, and it wasn’t until the early 1930’s for the present building to be completed.
The church was designed by architects Seely and Paget and is described as being in Queen Anne style with rose-red brick walls, white framed windows and a little bell cote over the end gable. The inside is a large open space, with whitewash walls and tall catenary arches formed in reinforced concrete. These arches were revolutionary in their construction and are a factor in the buildings Grade II listing.
