About this specific location
In Prospect Hill, just off Highway 86, you’ll find Shangri-La Stone Village.
This miniature stone village was built by Henry Warren, a retired tobacco farmer, who started the project in 1968 at age 72. Warren used stone from a local quarry to build 27 small structures, which he welcomed visitors to explore. The village includes a school, church, theater, hospital, and mill. Most buildings stand about 5 feet tall. To find this cache you do not need to climb or disturb any of the structures. Please be respectful of the space.
In 1972, Warren added a plaque with his philosophy to his work: “Let me live in the house by the side of the road and be a friend to man.”
