Vandenberg Air Force Base, established in 1941, was renamed Vandenberg Space Force Base, on May 14, 2021. It is a space launch base, launching spacecraft from the Western Range, and also performs missile testing. In addition to its military space launch mission, Vandenberg Space Force Base also hosts space launches for civil and commercial space entities, such as NASA and SpaceX.
Vandenberg Space Force Base is primarily known for its space launch capabilities, particularly for launching satellites into polar orbits. It encompasses over 98,000 acres and features approximately 16 launch facilities.
SpaceX has had 10 launches in 2026 from Vandenberg as of February 14th.
Vandenberg Space Force Base is about 30 miles south of this location, but launches can be seen from many places in San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties. This GZ is not a good viewing location, but the parking area is not bad!

A special Propellent Delivery System (PDS) can be found near the launch tower. Once you find the PDS, you will know what to do! Have fun retrieving the log.
Please return everything back to prelaunch condition after you have signed the log, except your PDS.
Note: the PDS is a single-use device and should be taken with you as a souvenir. Please let me know if the PDS supply is running low.
