A Jigidi for ... Allendale

 

One in a series of caches to highlight the many towns, villages, hamlets, localities and crossroads around Victoria. Based on a series of caches in South Australia by local SA cacher adelaideram, with others in the series by Jamms_SA . adelaideram was contacted and is happy with the series spreading its wings into Victoria.

 

Allendale (aka Allandale) is a town in Victoria, Australia, located north-east of Creswick, in the Hepburn Shire. At the 2021 census, Allendale and the surrounding area had a population of 185.

The town began as a mining settlement around the Berry Leads mining area. It had a peak population of about 1,500. Allendale once had ten hotels, railway station, post office, bakery, and shops, all of which have closed.
