Event date: 4/18/2026 (Saturday)
Event time: 12:30- 3:30

The last time we hosted a Maker Magic event, about 80 people showed up—and we absolutely LOVED it! Our house is small, but the backyard is pretty big, so we’ll be crossing our fingers for good weather again. Eighty people inside would be… ambitious.
This gathering is all about enjoying a great lunch, catching up with old friends, meeting new ones, and—most importantly—creating high‑quality geocaches using 3D printing. Three years ago, Kyle and I hosted a similar Maker Magic event, and the hobby has evolved dramatically since then. The tools and techniques available now make it possible to be more creative than ever.
Event Schedule
Part 1: Lunch & Socializing — starts at 12:30 We’ll kick things off with a classic meet‑and‑greet over lunch. We’ll provide plenty of food, and as always, you’re welcome to bring something to share. The grill will be fired up, so expect some tasty treats. I’m happy to cook anything you bring—or you can take over the grill yourself! We do insist that everyone leaves well‑fed. We’ll naturally transition into the next part of the event as the afternoon unfolds.
Part 2: Maker Session — continues into the afternoon The second half of the event will focus on how Kyle and I create our unusual caches, with an emphasis on 3D printing. After a few years of experimenting, we’ve picked up plenty of tips and tricks to share. We’ll also have small printed trinkets and small sample caches available for anyone who wants to take something home.
We’ll cover the basics of 3D printing, talk about how we come up with ideas for unique hides, and dive into anything else the group is curious about. We’ll keep things flexible and follow the interests of the crowd. The official end time is 3:30, but you’re welcome to stay longer—we’re happy to keep the fun going as long as people are enjoying themselves.
Extras
Don’t forget to bring books, puzzles, or games to swap in the Little Free Library in our front yard.
If you want to make a full day of it, consider arriving early to find some of the creative caches in the area. There are dozens nearby—plenty to keep you busy!
Again, we’re hoping for great weather so we can spend most of the day outside. The more people who come, the better the energy, so we hope to see a big crowd again.
We’ll post updates as we add more activities, so be sure to log a “Will Attend” to stay in the loop.
