Dawn of the Dead is a 1978 zombie film directed by George Romero and was filmed here at the Monroeville Mall. The movie was released in Italy in 1978, but was not released in the United States until Friday, April 13, 1979. It is the second in line of Romero's zombie films with the quintessential zombie film being Night of the Living Dead, filmed in nearby Evan's City.
