Continuing a series of caches celebrating everything to do with railways.
The History of the Station:
Chaplin is a subway station on Line 5 Eglinton in Toronto. It's located in Forest Hill near Spadina and Eglinton, and features three entrances. There's a main entry at Gilgorm Road and Eglinton Avenue West, next to an expanded Chaplin Parkette , a second entrance on the south side of Eglinton between Chaplin Crescent and the Kay Gardner Beltline Park; and a third, where this cache is.
During construction, Fire station 135 was closed and its eastern portion demolished. The western portion has been retained as an entrance for Chaplin station. The fire hall was built in 1932, and is listed on the City of Toronto Inventory of Heritage Properties. A replacement fire station was erected nearby
I've been looking forward to seeing this station open for years, as it's located in a stretch of Eglinton I really like for its historic architecture, especially to the east as you get toward Avenue. It's also close to the Beltline trail, and a number of great facilities.
About SideTracked Caches
This cache belongs to the SideTracked series. It is not designed to take you to a magical place with a breath taking view. It's a distraction for the weary traveller, but anyone else can go and find it too. More Information can be found at the SideTracked Website
Please Bring your own Pen. The cache itself is a typical urban hide, and unorthodox for a DreamMachine cache.
Congratulations to clues-uh for the quick FTF!
