The 1st Annual Wellington Geocaching Awards

Celebrating the best geocaching that Wellington has to offer, and encouraging quality everywhere, especially where the cache maker has performed outstanding magic!

We are taking nominations for awards in three categories:

1. Best cache container / hide / camo

2. Best location or journey to get there

3. Best cache description

Qualifying caches are any caches published in the previous year in the Wellington region that are still active. Within the 2025 year there are 345 qualifying caches. For a complete list of these see either this Project-GC map and list or this Geocaching.com list.

Please place your nominations in your Will Attend log or as a Write Note on this event (also please state how many for dinner). Nominations must be submitted by the Friday 17th April. You are not required to attend to place a nomination, you may nominate your own cache(s), and you may nominate as many caches as you wish.

For each nomination, state the GC code and category you are nominating it for.

A super secret review panel will forward the best 6 entries per category for the final vote.

Voting will be by ballot paper on the night after the awards dinner. No postal ballots will be accepted. You are not required to be present for your cache to win.

And yes, there are prizes and kudus to the COs! Attendees will also recieve a Maker Magic souvenir.

Dinner from 6:30 pm (optional), awards from 7:30 pm, wrap-up at 9pm.
