A Grupiara é um dos pontos elevados no centro de Diamantina e oferece uma ampla vista da cidade e da paisagem da Serra dos Critais. O nome “grupiara” tem origem no vocabulário garimpeiro e refere-se a áreas ricas em cascalho localizadas acima do nível dos córregos e rios.
Nem tudo é o que parece!! No local encontra-se uma curiosa construção que, à primeira vista, parece ser um pequeno edifício histórico. Na realidade, trata-se de uma caixa d’água da COPASA, projetada com aparência de construção antiga para se integrar melhor à paisagem urbana e histórica de Diamantina.
Além da função de abastecimento de água para parte da cidade, o ponto tornou-se também um mirante informal, de onde é possível observar o casario histórico e as serras que cercam Diamantina, reforçando a relação entre a infraestrutura moderna e o patrimônio paisagístico da região.

Grupiara is one of the elevated points in the center of Diamantina and offers a wide view of the city and the landscape of the Serra dos Cristais. The name “grupiara” comes from the vocabulary of diamond miners and refers to gravel-rich areas located above the level of streams and rivers.
Not everything is what it seems!! At the site there is a curious structure that, at first glance, appears to be a small historic building. In reality, it is a COPASA water tank designed with the appearance of an old construction so it blends better with the urban and historic landscape of Diamantina.
Besides supplying water to part of the city, the location has also become an informal viewpoint, from where you can observe the historic houses and the mountain ranges surrounding Diamantina, reinforcing the relationship between modern infrastructure and the region’s landscape heritage.
