Didcot GeoCache Series 

After our recently placed GeoCache Series at Great Western Park (GWP) (cache #1-11, 14, 17-19, 30-32, 35, 38, 60-61, 80-81, 84, 104-106), Didcot (cache #12-13, 15-16, 20-25, 29, 33-34, 41-42, 44-45, 47-48, 53, 59, 62-63, 66-67, 69-79, 82-83, 90-103, 107-112, 117-119, 121), Harwell (cache #26, 36-37, 43, 46, 54-55, 58, 68), Chilton (cache #27-28, 85), Sutton Courtenay (cache #39, 64-65), Milton (cache #40, 49-52, 56-57), Upton (cache #86-87), Long Wittenham (cache #88-89), Hagbournes (cache #114-116), and Kingsgrove (cache #120), we decide to place a few more caches in other parts of Didcot and surrounding villages, in order to honour local heros, and to reflect our rich local history, stories and heritage. We hope you will enjoy these new caches and may also learn something new when you are caching, thank you!

Didcot #122 - Didcot Nature Trail No. 8

Didcot Nature Trail is part of the Didcot Garden Town Project, and is located just a short walk from the Orchard Centre. Didcot Nature Trail is for everyone to enjoy and explore the local area, to become more active and learn more about the diverse natural world around us.

Following the Trail there are many leaf signs and an array of animals, birds, bugs, flowers and trees. Along the Trail there are also rubbing plates on some of the marker posts, including a blackbird, a fox, a buttercup, an acorn and a bumblebee, to name just a few. 

The Trail includes the Local Nature Reserve at Mowbray Fields, which is managed by Earth Trust, and the Sustrans Cycle path along the disused Didcot, Newbury and Southampton Railway Line, which opened in the early 1880s and was closed around 1961.

This Trail is 3.1 miles (5km) long, and provides somewhere for both local residents and their dogs to explore and be active. 

There is also a children's pavement play near the fallen tree, close to Sandringham Road. Here people can spot bees, ladybirds and frogs all encouraging active play along the route.

About this cache:

This part of the Didcot Nature Trail is along the south edge of Northbourne area in Didcot, to the north of large farm lands. It is a residential area with many allotments for local residents.

We often walk along this long nature trail and quite enjoy it. Hope you will find walking here enjoyable. There are also some other caches along this trail or nearby. 

Please also note: 

Please bring your own pen, and open & close the cache lid carefully so the cache and log book can survive longer. 

Please also replace exactly as found due to obvious reason. Please expect muggles at many times of the day. Some stealth may be needed.

You do not need to enter any private land or cross any fence.
