Opened in 1796 Sinnington Methodist Chapel is the oldest open in continuous use in the local area. It was extended and altered in 1863/64 and 1906. Before the chapel existed, worshippers met in private homes in the village. In 1829 the Sunday School was formed, lessons included worship and lasted more than 3 hours. They provided a basic education to 34 boys and 34 girls in the village who would otherwise have not had access to any schooling.
