Geocache Description:

How to host an Event

As a new geocacher or even an experienced one, events can be a scary thing to plan/host but it doesn't have to be.

Today we will learn the guidelines and how to host an event.

  • location - permission, permits?, parking, food, bathrooms
  • timing - need two weeks prior
  • submit cache page - regular event, CITO, Mega, GIGA
  • planning - what to do?, logbook (not required), creative ideas
  • question/answer session
  • closing

Next I will be doing a "mock" event, featuring a creative idea I have done twice before, once in Arizona and once in Indiana. They were well received and enjoyed by those who attended. One attendee said they wished they could give the event a favorite point. Another said she had never experienced this before, even as a child and was thrilled to be apart of it (she was in a wheelchair).

It features a piñata and there will be prizes!
