Did you know that on this day in 1199, Richard the Lionheart died from an infection after being shot by a crossbow. He was only 41. Richard is buried as Fontevraud Abbey in Anjou, France - although his heart is kept in Rouen Cathedral which was supposed to commemerate his love of Normandy. Richard was King for 10 years, but is estimated to have only spent about 6 months of it in England. It is thought he would probably not have been able to speak English.
