THERE’S GOLD IN THEM THAR HILLS!!

The Colorado Gold Rush, also known as the Pikes Peak Gold Rush, began in 1858. Gold fever hit its peak in 1859 after George Jackson discovered placer gold at the site of today’s Idaho Springs. The cry of “Pikes Peak or Bust” rang out as men came west to seek their fortunes. The Colorado Gold Rush brought over 100,000 prospectors to the Rocky Mountains, all believing that “There’s gold in them thar hills”.

The good news is THERE IS STILL GOLD IN THEM THAR HILLS!!

Calling All Geo-prospectors!!!

The RMGR GOLD RUSH geocaches were placed as part of the 3rd annual Rocky Mountain Geo Rendezvous event. Thirty nuggets of gold have been hidden “in them thar hills”. Now it’s your turn to do a little prospecting!
