This cache is located on Grouse Mountain, on the uppermost portion of the Simic Trail (sometimes called Simic's Trail). This trail runs parallel to the BCMC trail (east of the BCMC trail, but west of the "Paper Trail" ski run). The trail is actually quite an old one, and is no longer marked on most maps, but let me assure you, it definitely does exist and people do use it regularly.
The terrain earns its 4 rating if you hike up all the way from the base of the mountain, just for how long and tiring it is. If you are starting at the Grouse Mountain chalet, reaching it becomes considerably easier; the actual terrain near the hide location is more like a 2.5 or 3. There are trailhead waypoints included for places where the Simic Trail can be accessed from either below or above the cache location.
The cache is on the trail, hidden right beside it, so there is no need for bushwhacking, even if your GPS is pointing all over the place due to the terrain. You may find an engraved stone marker on the trail, bearing the trail's name; that marker within a few metres of the cache itself. The cache is not exactly at ground level, but is not hanging either. For specific details beyond that, look at the Hint.
This geocache was placed with permission of Metro Vancouver Parks, as maintenance of this trail is wihin their jurisdiction. Please be respectful of nature while searching for the geocache. Once the cache has been found, please close the inner bag and container properly, so water does not get inside it; then place the container back in the same location, with the same concealment, so it does not get spotted by non-geocachers and go missing.
One other condition to be aware of: This is an alpine cache, and the area is prone to be more inaccessible in winter due to snow cover and ice, and more hazardous in the dark. Therefore, there is no guarantee that this cache will be accessible in adverse conditions, and the cache attributes reflect that.
