Geocache Description:

Maker Magic in the Berkshires!

Sunday, April 26, 2026

2 pm - 4 pm

It's time to celebrate all of the great caches and the cachers who create them!!!

Once again we will gather at one of our favorite venues to share the stories of those amazing caches we've found along our travels!!!

"The joy of finally finding a well-hidden container. The surprise and delight at encountering a clever gadget cache. The twinkle in a cacher’s eye when signing a logbook. It’s all magic." - Geocaching HQ Blog

During the event Mr. gworol will be showing off some of his creative hides and leading a discussion about how to create them and demonstrating how they work.  He will also explain some of the difficulties he faced making some of his ideas become a reality.

One of his first cache hides was "My Wife Thinks I'm Nuts!" (GC1GMW7) which was published in 2008.  This cache has 682 favorite points! He has placed many other caches too, including "Large plastic screw top container" (GC4E6HK - 111 favorite points) and "The Devil Made Me Do It!" (GC33D81 - 73 favorite points) to name a few!  We also invite other cachers to showcase some of their awesome hides and join in the discussion.  There will be plenty of time for Q & A's and brainstorming future clever and fun cache hides.

Because I'm the "socialite" I try to host many events to gather cachers together for the comaraderie.  I will be explaining best practices for hosting events, venues, games, etc. to build friendships and community.  Since I am not the only one who hosts many events I will also be asking other hosts to share their trade secrets for hosting fun, quality events.  Again, there will be time for Q & A's and sharing.

And for first time cache hiders, or cachers who have had difficulty getting caches published, we will also discuss what needs to be included in the write-up when a cache is submitted to the reviewers.  We will also talk about container quality and why some types of containers are better than others, as well as the importance of cache maintenance.

We also invite you to bring your stories, GC numbers of favorite caches, pictures, or even one of your very own very clever cache hides.  Were any of these caches hidden by some of our favorite hiders, like gworol, bdubs213, Capt. Bob, TheWanderer069, 1311, Hyliston, WV Tim, MetallicAche1980, TwistedChickie, or another amazing creator?  Did you plan a trip around any of these caches like we do?  We will be discussing what made these hides so "magical" for you. We will be creating a list of GC numbers to have available to share with everyone who attends so that they can also experience these treasures (if they haven't already).  So please, include GC numbers in your "will attend" log if you'd like to be part of the list creation.

As always, you do not have to purchase anything to attend this event, however, if you choose to it is at your own expense.
