SW MI Geocachers - Kalamazoo Area CITO Event v7.1 Cache In Trash Out® Event

This cache has been archived.

BinderyGuy: Time to put this cache page to bed for a couple of months. [:)] Thanks to everyone who came out on this rainy day to help clean up this Park-n-Ride; thankfully, the rain held off while we were actually picking up trash. [:P] And a special "Thanks!!" goes out to RXWranglers for making a quick run to grab some more garbage bags as I'd forgotten to bring the ones I had at home. [:O] Cache up to everyone at the next event, if not sooner out on the geocaching trails. [8D]

Geocache Description:

WELCOME TO THE SPRING 2026 EDITION
of the
"SW MI Geocachers - Kalamazoo Area CITO Event"

This event is scheduled to be held on Saturday, April 4, 2026, from 10:00am until 11:00am; but may be shorter or longer, depending on how much work is involved and how many folks show up to help out.

Traditionally, CITO Souvenir opportunity events have been held twice a year for one week each. However, in 2019, Geocaching HQ introduced the CITO "Season", which extended the time frame for obtaining souvenirs for each "Season" from just one week, to numerous months.

This year, Cache In Trash Out® (CITO) souvenir opportunities will be held during the following dates:

CITO 2026 - Season 1
Sunday, March 1 - Sunday, May 31, 2026

and

CITO 2026 - Season 2
Tuesday, September 1 - Monday, November 30, 2026

Please plan to join us on Saturday, April 4, 2026, from 10:00am until 11:00am (or until done) at the posted coordinates (US-131 & "D" Ave., Exit 44).

This is a family friendly CITO event, as we will not be walking along the highway, so children are welcome to attend, but please keep an eye on the youngsters for their safety.

Per MDOT requirements, I will spend a couple of minutes going over a few safety guidelines prior to the event.

There will be safety vests, trash bags, disposable gloves, and some trash grabbers provided; however, you're more than welcome to bring your own gloves, grabbers, etc., if you wish.

Prior to participation, the MDOT Adopt-A-Highway Rules require that all participants:
1) Watch MDOT's official Safety Video, available HERE;
2) Read MDOT's official Safety Brochure, available HERE;
3) Sign-in on a participant sheet that must be completed and returned to MDOT for statistical purposes.
