A magia das primeiras geocaches criativas em Portugal ainda vive na memória de quem as visitou ou ouviu falar sobre as mesmas.
Aquele momento de alegria ao encontrar um recipiente bem elaborado e colocado.
O espanto ao abrir uma geocache engenhosa, produzida com dedicação e imaginação.
O brilho nos olhos ao assinar um livro de registos que parecia quase uma recompensa épica.
Tudo isto era mais do que geocaching, era pura magia.
Em 2026, queremos reacender essa chama.
O "Maker Magic" está de volta para celebrar a criatividade que sempre fez do geocaching algo único.
Entre 09 e 30 de Abril de 2026, a comunidade geocacher é convidada a organizar e participar em eventos "Maker Magic".
Vamos recordar o passado, inspirar o futuro e, acima de tudo, voltar a sentir aquela emoção que só uma geocache verdadeiramente criativa consegue despertar.
Durante este evento vamos viajar até às origens da criatividade no geocaching português, recordando as primeiras caches verdadeiramente inovadoras que surgiram no nosso país.
Estas obras-primas foram colocadas em 2005 e 2006, numa época em que não existiam redes sociais, tutoriais ou grupos online onde copiar ideias.
Tudo nascia da imaginação, da experimentação e da vontade de surpreender.
Cada uma destas geocaches era fruto de uma mente criativa e de mãos habilidosas.
O conceito e o projecto pertenciam inteiramente ao proprietário.
A construção manual dos recipientes, engenhosos e únicos, era também totalmente sua.
Não havia plágio ou vídeos de inspiração...
Havia apenas criatividade pura, dedicação e um enorme gosto pelo geocaching.
Infelizmente, o geocacher responsável por estas criações já não está entre nós.
Mas, o seu legado geocachiano permanece vivo em cada história contada, em cada sorriso de quem visitou as suas geocaches e, em cada geocacher que continua a inspirar-se no seu espírito inovador.
Neste evento, vamos celebrar essa herança, honrar a sua memória e recordar como tudo começou, para que a magia continue a inspirar as novas gerações de geocachers.
Se os títulos de geocaches, tais como "Flashit", "MapBox", "E a.bicha.nada", " ' (plica)", "100coordenadas", "Tou á Nora...", "Look no Further", "Há horas de sorte!" e "497 tiratira metemete" te suscitam curiosidade, participa neste evento e ficarás a saber tudo sobre as mesmas; desde a ideia original, a sua produção e colocação, e até as primeiras visitas.
Durante este evento "Maker Magic", não irei simplesmente recordar caches notáveis ou partilhar histórias dos primórdios do geocaching português.
Em vez disso, este será um verdadeiro workshop educativo, concebido para ensinar aos participantes (passo a passo) como foram concebidas, construídas, validadas e colocadas geocaches criativas.
Inspirando-me nas obras-primas pioneiras de 2005 e 2006, explicarei em detalhe o trabalho artesanal por detrás de recipientes como "Flashit", "MapBox", "E a.bicha.nada", " ’ (plica)", "100coordenadas", "Tou à Nora…", "Look no Further", "Há horas de sorte!" e "497 tiratira metemete".
Estas geocaches nasceram inteiramente da imaginação e da habilidade manual, e durante o workshop revelarei exactamente como ganharam vida.
A sessão incluirá uma apresentação estruturada demonstrando todo o processo de produção destes recipientes icónicos.
Os participantes aprenderão sobre os materiais originalmente utilizados, porque foram escolhidos e as técnicas artesanais que moldaram cada design único.
Desde a marcenaria e os componentes mecânicos até aos mecanismos ocultos e à camuflagem criativa, vou detalhar cada etapa da construção para que os participantes possam compreender não só o que foi construído, mas como e por que razão funcionou tão bem no terreno.
Esta visão prática visa capacitar os geocachers para desenvolverem os seus próprios recipientes criativos, baseados na qualidade, durabilidade e originalidade.
Além da construção física, também examinarei os factores essenciais que contribuem para uma geocache verdadeiramente excepcional.
Isto inclui a selecção de um local apropriado, a garantia da responsabilidade ambiental, a concepção de um recipiente que resista às intempéries e ao manuseamento, e a criação de um conceito que ofereça desafio e prazer.
Discutiremos o que torna um recipiente fiável, o que o torna surpreendente e o que transforma um simples esconderijo numa experiência memorável.
Os participantes sairão com orientações claras sobre como melhorar as suas próprias criações, desde a ideia inicial até à colocação final.
Uma parte importante do workshop irá focar-se nas "guidelines" e permissões.
Utilizando as geocaches mencionadas como casos de estudo, explicarei como o proprietário obteve as autorizações necessárias das autoridades competentes e como garantiu a conformidade com as "guidelines" do geocaching e os regulamentos locais.
Os participantes aprenderão como abordar os gestores de terrenos, que informações fornecer e como garantir que a sua cache cumpre todos os requisitos para publicação.
Compreender este processo é essencial para qualquer geocacher que deseje colocar uma geocache de forma responsável e bem-sucedida.
Ao revisitar as origens da criatividade no geocaching português e honrar o legado do geocacher que criou estas memoráveis geocaches, este workshop pretende inspirar uma nova geração de criadores.
Os participantes não só descobrirão as histórias por detrás destas geocaches lendárias, como também adquirirão o conhecimento e a confiança para criar geocaches criativas e de elevada qualidade, garantindo que a magia do geocaching continuará a prosperar.

The magic of Portugal’s earliest creative geocaches still lives on in the memories of those who visited them or heard stories about them.
That moment of joy when finally discovering a carefully crafted and cleverly placed container.
The sense of wonder when opening an ingenious geocache, built with dedication and imagination.
The sparkle in one’s eyes when signing a logbook that felt almost like an epic reward.
All of this was more than geocaching, it was pure magic.
In 2026, we want to rekindle that spark.
Maker Magic returns to celebrate the creativity that has always made geocaching something truly unique.
Between 09 and 30 April 2026, the geocaching community is invited to host and attend Maker Magic events.
Let’s remember the past, inspire the future, and, above all, rediscover that thrill that only a truly creative cache can awaken.
During this event, we will travel back to the origins of creativity in Portuguese geocaching, revisiting the very first truly innovative caches that appeared in our country.
These masterpieces were placed in 2005 and 2006, at a time when there were no social networks, tutorials or online groups from which to copy ideas.
Everything was born from imagination, experimentation, and the desire to surprise.
Each of these geocaches was the result of a creative mind and skilful hands.
The concept and the design belonged entirely to the owner.
The manual construction of the unique and ingenious containers, was also entirely his work.
There was no plagiarism and no inspirational videos.
There was only pure creativity, dedication and a deep love for the geocaching.
Sadly, the geocacher responsible for these creations is no longer with us.
Yet his geocaching legacy lives on in every story told, in every smile from those who visited his caches, and in every geocacher who continues to be inspired by his innovative spirit.
At this event, we will celebrate that heritage, honour his memory, and remember how it all began, so that the magic may continue to inspire new generations of geocachers.

During this Maker Magic event, I will not simply reminisce about remarkable geocaches or share stories from the early days of Portuguese geocaching.
Instead, this will be a true educational workshop, designed to teach participants (step by step) how creative geocaches were conceived, built, validated, and placed.
Drawing inspiration from the pioneering masterpieces of 2005 and 2006, I will explain in detail the craftsmanship behind containers such as "Flashit", "MapBox", "E a.bicha.nada", " ’ (plica)", "100coordenadas", "Tou à Nora…", "Look no Further", "Há horas de sorte!" and "497 tiratira metemete".
These geocaches were born entirely from imagination and manual skill, and during the workshop I will reveal exactly how they came to life.
The session will include a structured presentation demonstrating the full production process of these iconic containers.
Participants will learn about the materials originally used, why they were chosen, and the handmade techniques that shaped each unique design.
From woodworking and mechanical components to hidden mechanisms and creative camouflage, I will break down each stage of construction so that attendees can understand not only what was built, but how and why it worked so well in the field.
This practical insight aims to empower geocachers to develop their own inventive containers, rooted in quality, durability, and originality.
Beyond the physical build, I will also examine the essential factors that contribute to a truly outstanding geocache.
This includes selecting an appropriate location, ensuring environmental responsibility, designing a container that withstands weather and handling, and creating a concept that offers both challenge and delight.
We will discuss what makes a container reliable, what makes it surprising, and what transforms a simple hide into a memorable experience.
Attendees will leave with clear guidance on how to elevate their own creations, from initial idea to final placement.
An important part of the workshop will focus on guidelines and permissions.
Using the aforementioned caches as case studies, I will explain how the owner obtained the necessary authorisations from the relevant authorities, and how they ensured compliance with geocaching guidelines and local regulations.
Attendees will learn how to approach land managers, what information to provide, and how to ensure that their geocache meets all publication requirements.
Understanding this process is essential for anyone wishing to place a geocache responsibly and successfully.
By revisiting the origins of creativity in Portuguese geocaching and honouring the legacy of the geocacher who crafted these extraordinary hides, this workshop aims to inspire a new generation of makers.
