Appleford #136 - Appleford Village Hall (Officially Known as Village Hall Series 1816 - Appleford)

Appleford Village Hall is located at Main Road, Appleford, Oxfordshire OX14 4PF.

The hall was built by volunteers from the village in the 1970's, and over the years it has been enlarged and refurbished using grants from various organisations.

Appleford Village Hall benefits from a unique location, sited on a large playfield, with fixed goalposts and a children's playground (surrounded by fences and hedges), zip wire and outdoor gym equipment.

There is a large car park for 20 cars, as well as the Appleford Railway Station within a 5-minute walk.

The main hall is approximately 45 M⊃2; and has a capacity of sitting 50 people at tables or 60 people in a theatre style configuration. It benefits from opening straight out on to a patio, with outdoor heating, lights and 2 large picnic tables/benches.

The kitchen is fully equipped with double oven, hob, microwave and fridge and 60+ covers in crockery, cutlery and glasses.

About this multi-cache:

This cache is placed to celebrate the Village Hall Week 2026 (16th - 22nd March 2026)

At the published coordinates, you will be standing in front of the village hall's front wall. On the wall there is a defibrillator, and it has a location code on it, which is ABCD.

For letters in the above location code, translate each letter to a number using A = 1, B = 2, ..., I = 9, J = 0, K = 1, ..., Z = 6 method.

On the top right corner of the village hall wall, there is a security alarm. On the alarm there are two words. The number of letters in the top word is E.

To the left of the above security alarm at some distance, there is a white sign on the wall. The telephone number on this sign is 01235 FGHJKL.

The final coordinates are a short distance away at:

N51  ( B - A )   ( B + D - A )  .  ( D - B )   ( F + L + J )   ( E + A - B )

W001  ( F / L )   ( G - H + L )  .  ( G - F + K )   ( E / ( G - H ) )   ( ( G + J ) / A )

You may check your answer via the following GeoCheck:

Please also note:

Please bring your own pen, and open & close the cache lid carefully so the cache and log book can survive longer.

Please also replace exactly as found due to obvious reason, and please be careful with the possible thorns and stinging nettles. Long sleeves, trousers, and gloves are recommended.

You do not need to cross any fence or enter any private land.

Thank you and enjoy GeoCaching!

FTF: Congratulations to rosela and Tom Tom's Army for their Joint FTF on 16 March 2026!
