Welcome to my April event - Maker Magic in Moredon
This month it will now be held on Tuesday 14th April at 10 am at The Tawny Owl Pub in North Swindon SN25 1WP.
Due to the unpredictable weather I have taken the decision to change the venue. There is a covered area to the right of the entrance, head down the right hand side of the pub building. (It is not fully enclosed so please wear warm layers. We will move inside if it is too cold)
This event is very different .. we are looking at good examples of caches to earn Maker Magic Souvenirs.
This is the plan
1. Introduction . Brainstorm what makes a good cache? (Share photos and examples)
2. Types of containers...where to source them...advantages and disadvantages of each.
3. Cache types ..how and what do you need to do to create different caches eg letterboxes, mystery caches, multi caches.(Volunteers to talk about each one please?)
4. Permission..who and how do you get permission from...
5. Any questions...
6. Wire insect embellishment workshop. I will demonstrate how to make wire insects to decorate caches with. I will bring wire,tape and beads. Everyone is welcome to have a go.
7 Lets create a quality cache.... please bring something useful to create a cache.This might be decorations,a pot,camouflage tape,glue,magnets,an idea for a multi or mystery cache. We will then pool ideas and create a cache and a cache page in groups.
8. Each group will share their creation and a winning entry will be announced. There will be a small prize for the winners.
9. Conclusion the Future...What does the future hold combining geocaching and technology?
Please could everyone bring a container (any size), their contribution to the group cache (see 7 above), a photo or any good caches they have and of course all their geocaching expertise
Food and drinks will be available at the pub. Breakfast is served until 11 am.
There is a large car park . The pub is on a bus route.
