Geocache Description:

St James’ Church Elstead is believed to have been founded by the Monks of Waverley Abbey in about the year 1138 and parts of the church building date back to the 12th century.

The walls on the north and west sides of the nave and the north and east walls of the chancel date from these earliest times. Some of the timber structure which holds up the belfry is also believed to date from this time, including the stairs up into the belfry which are made from one huge oak tree.

St James’ Elstead

St James’ Elstead was on the local TV news last year when Queen guitarist Brian May led a community team planting daffodils on the green outside the church. The first stage of this multi (at the given co-ordinates) is on the green. Take care not to trample on the daffodils.

Stage 1 - Before Queen

Find the plaque that reveals when another royal parked on the green. Date = ab-May-19cd.

Stage 2 - Keen

Find the gravestone of Richard Keen. He died on ef-Sep-18gh aged jk.

Stage 3 - and in between

Find Anne's bench. m = number of letters in her surname.

You can use this bench to calculate the final co-ordinates.
