About Milikan Way MAX Station

Welcome to the Milikan Way MAX Station, located in the heart of a business park originally developed by Tektronix. Today the campus is home to several companies, but the station itself sits on a corridor with much deeper roots.
The MAX Blue and Red Lines follow the former Oregon Electric Railway (OE) interurban route, which once connected Forest Grove and Portland. Based on historic OE maps and timetables, there was no OE stop at this exact location—Milikan Way lies between the former St. Mary’s and Beaverton stops.
Station Artwork
The Westside MAX design team created the art program here, blending themes of nature and technology—an appropriate nod to the nearby wetlands and the Tektronix campus.
Highlights include:
- Brick patterns on the systems buildings suggest both coniferous and deciduous trees
- Bronze plaques etched with the songs of local birds along the trackway
- Sandblasted clusters of leaves, seeds, and pinecones throughout the plaza
- Terrazzo designs featuring test patterns and mathematical symbols
- Christopher Rauschenberg’s Time Window, documenting the station’s view in 1994
Station Facilities
- Free Park‑and‑Ride lot
- Bus connections to TriMet routes 53 and 62
Although the station is named Milikan Way, it actually sits on SW 141st Avenue. Milikan Way is one block south. The street was named by Tektronix in honor of Robert A. Millikan (1868–1953), winner of the 1923 Nobel Prize in Physics.
Use MAX or park in the Park-n-Ride lot and walk to the cache.
