Geocache Description:

Let's come together at the BRAND NEW Republic Makerspace!

This event is great for new and seasoned geocachers.

1. Get a sneak peak at some of the gadget caches that will start appearing in the Greene County area this year.

2. Get crafty and create your own geocache container. Supplies will be provided for everyone to create at least one new container to hide. We'll discuss, explore, and create some caches with the camoflage to survive the local area. (Please feel free to bring any cache containers you have to either share or create.)

3. Take the opportunity to use the Makerspace equipment (focus will be on the 3D printer, Glowforge, and Cricut Machines) to create magnets, containers, and trackables.

Options for creations:

  • Cricut: There is no cost to use the machine. You may need to bring your orn vinyls and paper if you have something specific in mind. I'll have a template ready for 4"x6" Travel Bug Car magnets if you have one that needs to be replaced. Cost per magnet will be 75 cents.
  • 3D Print Choose from one of 3 container designs. Photos are included on the cache page with approximate print times and cost. The cost formula is $0.15 per gram of filament used. Staff do have these designs on hand, and you'll be able to reference the event and order in advance (or be prepared to return within 1-2 weeks to pick up the finished project).
  • Glowforge I'll provide some materials that can be cut and engraved using the laser cutting machine--or you can bring your own wood, anodized aluminum, or acryllic. The cost to use the machine is free--prices of materials will vary.)
