Ein kleiner schneller Cache mit etwas Platz für Travelbugs.
Die Besitzer wissen natürlich Bescheid und sind informiert.
Ich schreibe zwischendurch Karten, wenn ich mal im Urlaub bin und freue mich auch immer, wenn ich Karten oder Briefe von meinen Liebsten bekomme. Mit meiner ü90 Oma schreibe ich sogar zwischendurch Briefe auf Sütterlin. Dafür habe ich mir extra diese Schrift beigebracht.
Aber keine Sorge, Ihr müsst nur wie gehabt Name und Datum ins Logbuch eintragen. 😊

Die kleine rote Fahne an der Seite ist nicht dafür da, anzuzeigen, dass Post angekommen ist, sondern genau das Gegenteil ist der Fall. Sie ist ein Signal des Hausbesitzers an den Postboten: "Ich habe Post zum Abholen hineingelegt". Amerikanische Briefkästen funktionieren nämlich in beide Richtungen. Der Briefträger nimmt ausgehende Post direkt aus dem privaten Briefkasten mit, wenn die Fahne oben ist.

I write postcards now and then when I’m on holiday, and I’m always delighted to receive postcards or letters from my loved ones. I even write letters in Sütterlin to my 90-plus-year-old grandmother from time to time. I taught myself this font especially for that.

The little red flag on the side is not there to indicate that post has arrived; in fact, the opposite is true. It is a signal from the homeowner to the postman: "I have put post inside for you to collect". American letterboxes work both ways, you see. The postman collects outgoing post directly from the private letterbox when the flag is up.
