It's Maker Magic 2026, y'all!!

Have you ever been hiding a geocache and felt tempted to hammer a nail or other items into a tree to make sure your cache doesn't walk away? Fear not-- you don't need nails to secure your cache to a natural host! We are prepping birdhouse hides for the Aurora Challenge trail, and we want to show you how we are doing it!
All of these bird house caches are amazing, but not all of them are installed equally in a tree-friendly way!
Stop by the Cache Castle at Birkenstock Report World Headquarters and help us create the tree-friendly attachments for the birdhouse hides on the Aurora Challenge trail! We will show you how to attach a galvanized hanger strap to the back of your bird house or other cache style, and then use a rafting strap to attach it to a tree. This allows you to install a bird house cache without causing permanent impact to the host (tree). We have 30 bird houses ready to go that you can help modify with these attachments that will be replacing the temporary hides on the Aurora Challenge Trail later this spring. You can also buy your completed bird house and attachment to take with you after the event, with all proceeds benefiting the Aurora Challenge Trail or the Chugiak High Geocaching club.
A SWAG bottle table will also be set up at this event. Fill a ready-to-travel container with assorted swag to take with you for just $5 and be ready on the trail at any time! All proceeds also benefit CHCS & ACT.
Lastly, the GeocacheAlaska! Mobile store will be there from 6-7! If you're local and need to refresh your geocaching supplies, come ready to shop! If you're visiting us and need some cool souvenirs, we're ready to hook you up!
This event will take place in my driveway and garage, with tables set up. You're welcome to stop by anytime during the event, even if you can't make the whole event. Snacks will be provided, and since this is mostly outside, your dogs and strollers are totally welcome!
