🇬🇧 National Theatre "Mihai Eminescu"
The building of National Theatre „Mihai Eminescu“ is considered one of the most beautiful monuments of architecture and theatrical art in Chișinău.
The first attempt to construct the building was made in the early 1930s. It was originally planned as a Palace of Culture in neoclassical style. However, due to the economic crisis and lack of funding, construction works were stopped.
In the post-war years, the unfinished building was temporarily used for sports activities — students of the physical education college practiced fencing here.
Construction resumed in 1949. The building was officially completed in the spring of 1954.
The history of the theatre itself began even earlier than the completion of the building. The first professional Moldavian drama theatre was founded in 1933 in Tiraspol. In 1940 it was moved to Chișinău, and in 1945 it was named after the Russian poet Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin.
Between 1955 and 1957, the theatre functioned as an opera, ballet and drama theatre. In 1974 it received academic status. In 1994 it was granted national status and a new name in honor of the great Romanian poet Mihai Eminescu.
Since then, the theatre has become one of the main cultural centers of the country.

Clădirea Teatrul Național „Mihai Eminescu“ este considerată unul dintre cele mai frumoase monumente de arhitectură și artă teatrală din Chișinău.
Prima încercare de construire a clădirii a avut loc la începutul anilor 1930. Inițial, aceasta a fost planificată ca Palat al Culturii în stil neoclasic. Totuși, din cauza crizei economice și a lipsei de fonduri, lucrările au fost oprite.
În anii postbelici, clădirea neterminată a fost folosită temporar pentru activități sportive — aici se antrenau studenții colegiului de educație fizică, practicând scrima.
Construcția a fost reluată în anul 1949. Finalizarea oficială a clădirii a avut loc în primăvara anului 1954.
Istoria teatrului a început chiar înainte de finalizarea clădirii. Primul teatru dramatic profesionist moldovenesc a fost fondat în 1933 la Tiraspol. În 1940 a fost mutat la Chișinău, iar în 1945 a primit numele poetului rus Alexandr Sergheevici Pușkin.
Între anii 1955 și 1957, teatrul a funcționat ca teatru de operă, balet și dramă. În 1974 i-a fost acordat statutul de teatru academic. În 1994 a primit statut național și un nou nume, în onoarea marelui poet român Mihai Eminescu.
De atunci, teatrul a devenit unul dintre principalele centre culturale ale țării.

Das Gebäude des Nationaltheater „Mihai Eminescu“ gilt als eines der schönsten Denkmäler der Architektur und Theaterkunst in Chișinău.
Der erste Bauversuch wurde Anfang der 1930er Jahre unternommen. Ursprünglich war das Gebäude als Kulturpalast im neoklassizistischen Stil geplant. Aufgrund der Wirtschaftskrise und fehlender finanzieller Mittel wurden die Bauarbeiten jedoch eingestellt.
In den Nachkriegsjahren wurde das unfertige Gebäude vorübergehend für sportliche Aktivitäten genutzt — Studenten einer Sportschule trainierten hier Fechten.
Der Bau wurde 1949 wieder aufgenommen. Die feierliche Fertigstellung des Gebäudes erfolgte im Frühjahr 1954.
Die Geschichte des Theaters begann bereits vor der Fertigstellung des Gebäudes. Das erste professionelle moldauische Schauspieltheater wurde 1933 in Tiraspol gegründet. 1940 wurde es nach Chișinău verlegt, und 1945 erhielt es den Namen des russischen Dichters Alexander Sergejewitsch Puschkin.
In den Jahren 1955–1957 arbeitete das Theater als Opern-, Ballett- und Schauspieltheater. 1974 erhielt es den akademischen Status. 1994 bekam es den Status eines Nationaltheaters und einen neuen Namen zu Ehren des großen rumänischen Dichters Mihai Eminescu.
Seitdem ist das Theater zu einem der wichtigsten Kulturzentren des Landes geworden.
