Geocoinfest is the premier traveling gathering of geocachers and geocoin collectors from around the world! Romeoville, Illinois has been selected as the host city for 2026. The 2026 theme celebrates the 100th anniversary of the historic U.S. Route 66.
Romeoville sits near the intersection of two historic highways: U.S. Route 66 and the Lincoln Highway, offering geocachers a fantastic basecamp for adventure. The surrounding area is packed with things to do. Adventure Labs, GeoArt, and many highly favorited caches including Illinois’ oldest geocache, GC 28 “Beverly.” For GeoArt fans, the world’s largest GeoArt — The Penny Farthing is a short road trip.
The main event will highlight a display collection of 200+ geocoins and many fun activities. The raffle drawing will feature items donated from our fantastic vendors as well a set of very highly sought after geocoins.
During the 4 day event, there will be at least 8 brand new must-have Geocoin designs released….and if all goes as planned, possibly a coin design that has never been done before.
Nearby points of interest include the historic Old Joliet Prison (featured in The Blues Brothers movie as well as the TV show “Prison Break”), downtown Chicago which is packed with fun things to do for all ages.
Whether you're coming for the geocoins, the caches, or the community, Geocoinfest 2026 promises four days of geocaching fun along America’s most historic road.
