Geocache Description:

Southeastern Massachusetts Association of Geocachers (SEMAG) Meet & Greet #134!   134 consecutive months of SEMAG events!

This event is a special kind of meet and greet, an opportunity to earn a souvenir and a chance to discuss what makes the best (and worst) geocaches all at one event in Seekonk.

Come join us on Saturday, April 18th from 10:30 am until at least 11:30 am to celebrate some of the geocache creations that have made this hobby so special. We will be meeting in the gazebo area in Seekonk Meadows, behind the Seekonk Public Library.

We will be sharing ideas of what makes a great geocache and what doesn't.

We will start with the container.  We will discuss the best and most clever containers we have encountered in our 19 years of geocaching.  We will also discuss the containers that didn't work so well.  We will have a few different types of containers on display.

We will next discuss the hide. From hidden in plain site to well camouflaged in the middle of the woods, we will talk about the best and worst hiding techniques.

Lastly, we will open the discussion for caching stories and opinions. We will encourage attendees to share stories about their favorite cache containers, hides and finds.  If anyone has a cool (or awful) example of a geocache container that they would like to share, please bring it along, too.

A few of our thoughts on geocache creations:

 - Great geocaches take you to new interesting places; add a little twist on opening the cache container; show you a little history of an area you may or may not be familiar with; have a scenic view or at least a good reason to be there; are creative and make you say "I wish I thought of that"

 - Not-so-great geocaches have you searching in or near trash; are hidden in busy areas with no obvious parking; make you nervous when you are searching; make you question why you are a geocacher

From Groundspeak: "The joy of finally finding a well-hidden container. The surprise and delight at encountering a clever gadget cache. The twinkle in a cacher’s eye when signing a logbook. It’s all magic."

Geocachers who attend Maker Magic events will earn a special souvenir.  A special Maker Magic Treasure collection will also be released to celebrate Maker Magic.

NOTE: It is a short walk to the gazebo.  There are no seats in the gazebo so please bring your own chair if you need one.
