The Lacy Family warmly invites you to the 23nd annual geocaching adventure! This year, we’re gathering at the Sloppy Floyd State Park. It is a must-see for this year. You'll find not one but TWO lakes, SUP and kayak rental, great hiking trails (including an old marble mine and small waterfall), fishing spots, camping with campfire ring -- it’s the perfect spot for a weekend filled with outdoor fun, GPS games, and great company.
Then spend a night or two if you want. all surrounded by the rolling mountains of northwest Georgia.

Event Details;
- Date: Saturday, Sept.26, 2026
- Time: 10:00 AM until dark (or overnight, if you’re staying)
- Location: Pioneer Campground.
As always, the event will be held rain or shine—though we’ll make an exception for hurricanes!
Activities and Highlights:
Friday night we will arrive and set up camp (feel free to arrive anytime after 1pm). Dinner will be around 8pm, and we can enjoy the rest of the evening getting to know each other.
Fun Starts Saturday
- Daytime Fun: Engage in GPS challenges, explore the scenic campground, or simply relax and socialize with fellow geocachers.
- GPS Game: Bubba says he has great game in mind, Toss, all new this year we are still wait for him to explain it to us.
- Saturday Potluck Supper: Bring your favorite camp food to rshare and enjoy a cozy meal around the evening campfire. Share some laughs, tell a scary story or two, and maybe even spin a tall tale!
- Optional Camping: For the adventurous, camp with us on Friday, Saturday, or both nights! Experience the great outdoors with campfire camaraderie and starry skies.
Additional Notes: All activities are optional, so feel free to join in as much or as little as you’d like. Whether you’re diving into GPS adventures or just stopping by to say hello, we’d love to see you. And We can’t wait to spend this special weekend with you. Mark your calendars, pack your gear, and join us for a memorable geocaching adventure!

- 10:00 Welcome and Introductions
Gather around for a warm welcome and to meet fellow campers.
- 10:30 Instructions
The instructions for the first part of this year’s game format and rules. Once briefed, you're free to begin the hunt and enjoy lunch at your own pace. Note This year the will a lot more simple than some past years
- 2:30 Return to Campground
- Regroup and share stories from the field
- Saturday, after breakfast, we will do an area hike and then the rest of the day is on your own. Kayaking, card games, bocce ball, watching grass grow, naps, or juggling are all excellent ways to pass the time. Later, we'll have a yummy dinner and then we can relax around the fire. Sunday, after a light breakfast, we will pack for home.

What to Bring:
Over nighters
- Tent sleeping bags etc.
- Bug spray for setting around camp fire
- Camp lights, head lights or flashlight
- Breakfast makings for Sunday morning if you’re staying overnight.
Remember the Saturday evening meal is pot luck, covered dish type for those that want to join in.
