Geocache Description:

My Lockdown Bike ride

Delighted with the uptake of the whole series My Lockdown walk. I decided a larger series was needed.

In keeping with the theme all should be within a 30 minute bike ride of my home.

A little poetic licence has been used, a few of other cachers hides were along my intended route so a small off bike detour may be required. The majority follow some quite busy roads and country roads with Fast traffic so please take care.

Please carry spare logs, if its wet, please replace the log. Its’s Pendle we get a lot of wet weather. If the cache itself is missing I will replace ASAP.

Should be an unassuming cache.

Log is micro in size, log only, so please bring your own pen.

Appreciate photos in logs of views showing the changing seasons.

Stealth required its very close to housing, public footpaths

This cache is NOT hidden in a wall no stones in the wall need to be removed or moved to find it

Following the route you will pass The Shooters Arms in Southfield, Nelson, is a historic 18th-century pub (although often believed to be built in 1760, with some records suggesting parts of the building date back to 1660.) formerly known as the Dog & Partridge, serving as a traditional coach road stop between Colne and Hebden Bridge. Renowned for its connection to local quarrymen. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, it was a favorite watering hole for miners from the nearby Catlow Quarries, who often paid for their drinks with gold coins. With a rural history, the pub now offers traditional food and panoramic views of the area. Situated in the historic hamlet of Southfield, it is frequently associated with early, traditional Lancashire life and has been a popular scenic walking spot for generations.Notable Licensees: Former Burnley Football Club player and manager Tommy Cummings was once the licensee.

If you have time have a short walk or ride down to Southfield Methodist Chapel in Nelson a historic, welcoming church built in 1797 following a visit by John Wesley, situated at Southfield Farm (BB10 3RN). Known for its unique, rustic design and surviving "barn and chapel" structure, it remains an active, inclusive community place of worship, offering services like Pets' Blessing and traditional carols. Built in 1797, it is one of the oldest Methodist chapels in continuous use, closely linked to John Wesley. The architecture is of a unique construction where one end was designed as a barn and the other a chapel.
