A new cache placed as the cycle path has now opened up, connecting the A10 bridge to the New Town area of Waterbeach
A remnant of previous activity on the Waterbeach site is nearby. It appears to be some kind of water tank or drainage system, with its partly derelict state visible in historical overhead images dating back at least to 1999. Presumably, the original structure dates back to the area’s use as RAF Waterbeach.
We thought it was odd that random remnants such as these hadn’t been cleared ahead of the redevelopment, as they don’t appear to hold any obvious historical significance, nor have they been restored or repurposed.
The cache is not located on these brick structures, but is a stone’s throw away from them.
