A new cache placed as the cycle path has now opened up, connecting the A10 bridge to the New Town area of Waterbeach.
Initial construction began in February 2025 and the bridge opened to the public in March 2026.
The bridge was manufactured off-site and then transported to Waterbeach for installation. The largest section was 70 tonnes and 28m long and was lifted into place using a 650-tonne crane. Installation took place over several weekends in September 2025.
The bridge is part of a project to connect Cambridge and Waterbeach, improvements have previously been made to the Roman road Mere Way as part of the project. A guided bus way and travel hub are also scheduled to be constructed to link Waterbeach and Cambridge, as well as a new roundabout on the A10 which will apparently act as a gateway to the new development.
If this is the final cache in the series you've found, then a badge below is available for you do as you please (apologies for the AI!).
