Willkommen in Goslar am schönen Harzrand. Schön, dass du unsere Geotour besuchst.
(dieser Cache) Historischer Bahnhof Vienenburg
Dies ist der älteste, noch erhaltene Bahnhof Deutschlands. Im Gebäude gibt es ein Eisenbahnmuseum mit alten Fahrplänen, Werkzeuge, Uniformen, Fahrkartendrucker, und vieles mehr. Besonders sehenswert ist die Modellbahnanlage, die zeigt wie der Bahnhof im Jahr 1963 mal aussah. Das Museum ist jeden ersten Sonntag im Monat von 13:00 bis 17:00 Uhr geöffnet.
Der Cache befindet sich auf der Außenanlage. Hier gibt es eine Sammlung historischer Fahrzeuge, die man kostenlos besichtigen kann. Diese bitte nicht betreten sowie keinesfalls über die Nahe liegenden Gleise laufen.
Das Gebäude wurde 1840 errichtet. Durch den Bau weiterer Eisenbahnstrecken in den folgenden Jahren entwickelte sich Vienenburg zu einem Verkehrsknotenpunkt. Mit der Inbetriebnahme der Eisenbahn nach Bad Harzburg nahm der Aufstieg seinen Anfang. Das begünstigte eine schnelle Industrialisierung des kleinen Ortes. In den folgenden Jahren wuchs Vienenburg um Gasthöfe, Bergbau, einer Schmiede, einem Sägewerk, einer Phosphatfabrik, einer Zuckerfabrik, einer Malzfabrik, einer Zementfabrik, usw.
Nun zum Cache:
Wir befinden wir uns im Jahr 1875. Es ist der 15.August. Kaiser Wilhelm I., König von Preußen, war nach einem Besuch in Goslar als nächstes zu Besuch in Vienenburg um Vereine aus der Region und eine Delegation aus Bad Harzburg zu empfangen. Danach gedachte er schnellstens weiter zu reisen. Leider gab es ein technisches Problem und der Kaiser sitzt verärgert im Wartesaal. Der Generator für die Heizung des Wagens ist ausgefallen und der Techniker ist gerade zur Instandsetzung einer Lok in der Ilseder Hütte. Nun brauch die hilflose Schaffnerin schnellstens Eure Hilfe! Ihr findet sie beim großen weißen VIENENBURG Schild zwischen den Gleisen.
Über die GeoTour
Goslar vereint auf besondere Weise Geschichte, Landschaft und Technik. Die historische Altstadt, das Erzbergwerk Rammelsberg und das Oberharzer Wasserregal bilden gemeinsam ein einzigartiges Ensemble, das als UNESCO-Weltkulturerbe ausgezeichnet wurde und bis heute die Entwicklung der Region sichtbar macht.
Diese Geotour ist aus der Geocaching-Community heraus entstanden. Sie wurde von engagierten Cacherinnen und Cachern entworfen, entwickelt und getragen – mit dem Ziel, die Besonderheiten Goslars auf abwechslungsreiche Weise erlebbar zu machen und bekannte wie weniger bekannte Orte miteinander zu verbinden. Und unser Maskottchen Adelhard wird dich dabei begleiten.
Goslar ist immer eine Reise Wert, weil hier Treffen sich mehrere.

Something about Emperor, Heart, and Eagle
Welcome to Goslar at the beautiful edge of the Harz. We’re glad you are visiting our GeoTour.
(this Cache) Vienenburg Historic Railway Station
This is the oldest surviving railway station in Germany. Inside the building is a railway museum with old timetables, tools, uniforms, ticket printers, and much more. The model railway, depicting what the station looked like in 1963, is particularly worth seeing. The museum is open every first Sunday of the month from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
The cache is located in the outdoor area. Here you’ll find a collection of historic vehicles, which can be viewed free of charge. Please do not enter the vehicles or walk across the nearby tracks.
The building was erected in 1840. With the construction of further railway lines in the following years, Vienenburg developed into a transportation hub. Its rise began with the opening of the railway to Bad Harzburg. This facilitated the rapid industrialization of the small town. In the following years, Vienenburg grew, adding inns, a mine, a blacksmith’s shop, a sawmill, a phosphate factory, a sugar factory, a malt factory, a cement factory, and so on.
Now to the cache:
We are in the year 1875. It is August 15th. Emperor Wilhelm I, King of Prussia, was visiting Vienenburg after a trip to Goslar to receive local clubs and a delegation from Bad Harzburg. He then intended to continue his journey as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, there was a technical problem, and the Emperor sat irritated in the waiting room. The generator for the carriage’s heating had failed, and the technician was currently repairing a locomotive at the Ilsede ironworks. The helpless conductor urgently needs your help! You will find them by the large white VIENENBURG sign between the tracks.

This GeoTour originated from the geocaching community. It was designed, developed, and supported by dedicated cachers, with the goal of showcasing Goslar’s special features in an engaging way and connecting both well-known and lesser-known locations.
