Geocache Description:

August 2, 2026, 3:00 – 4:30 pm
B&A Trail – Severna Park (Please take note of the Waypoints and/or Hint)

For Stop #3 of the Route 2 Cache Corridor, we’re stepping into a different chapter of local history, one that quite literally paved the way for connection.

The B&A Trail follows the former route of the Baltimore & Annapolis Railroad, which began operating in the late 1800s, carrying passengers and freight between Baltimore and Annapolis. For decades, the railway linked the same communities that Route 2 serves today. After rail service ended in the 1950s, the corridor sat unused before being transformed into the paved trail we know today, officially opening in 1990. Stretching approximately 13.3 miles from Glen Burnie to Annapolis, the trail mirrors the Route 2 corridor in both direction and purpose, connecting neighborhoods, businesses, and gathering spaces along the way.

We will be outdoors in August, so please plan accordingly. Bring a chair, water, and sunscreen. I will do my best to select a gathering spot in the shade up above the trail. There is a local snow cone and açaí bowl stand nearby, along with other eateries within immediate walking distance, but no purchase is necessary to attend.

For those participating in the Route 2 Cache Corridor Passport: stamps will continue at this event. If you’re just joining the series now, you’re still more than welcome to attend, each stop is designed to stand alone and be enjoyed on its own. The Passport challenge is simply an added bonus for those who started early.

Now halfway through the Route 2 Cache Corridor Event Series, we continue highlighting local businesses, gathering spots, and parks along Maryland’s historic Route 2, traveling from Glen Burnie toward Annapolis throughout the year. Together, these events tell the story of the communities connected by Route 2, offering geocachers a chance to explore, relax, socialize, and of course geocache along the corridor.

Passports are stamped at each event, and geocachers who attend at least 4 of the 5 events will earn commemorative swag, available at the final event. One missed event is allowed, life happens!

So come and join me - don’t forget your travel bugs to be discovered and/or swapped! - as we continue making our way down Route 2!!
