Join us for the Third Annual CITO with the Greater Worcester Land Trust. We will return to the Cascades East property at 265 Olean Street in Worcester. This property was once farmland in the growing city of Worcester. In the 50s, locals could pay the landowner for the rights to leave their unwanted household goods. Closing after a few years, all was quiet until the 70s when a local developer attempted to build a new neighborhood. Failing to secure the appropriate permits, the model home was removed, and the land again went dormant. Through the valiant conservation efforts of the Greater Worcester Land Trust and partners, this land was bought and connected to the ever-so-popular Cascades and Boynton Park properties.
Today, we continue to help clean the site from past uses. Fortunately, this past operation was in a day when household waste left mostly glass and metal in its wake.
The Greater Worcester Land Trust will provide tools and gloves, but feel free to bring your comfortable workwear. Solid Shoes are a must.
As with last year, all participants are invited to attend a thank-you cookout (12:30 to 1:30 ish) down the street at the Cascading Waters Lodge (135 Olean Street) following the CITO. Overflow parking can be found around the corner on Soheli Circle. While not necessary, feel free to bring a dish to share if you wish. The AMC will be there hosting an open house at their Gear Shed.
