PILARES DEL VIENTO
Esta escultura se encuentra en el centro de la plaza frente al Auditorio de Tenerife, el Castillo de San Juan y el Parque Marítimo César Manrique, en Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Fue construido en 2001 por Aquilino Dorta Pérez, aunque fue diseñado por César Manrique, cuyos bocetos para realizarlo fueron interpretados por Juan Amigó y José L. Olcina. Manrique, además de ser arquitecto y pintor, diseñó varias esculturas, siempre basadas en la movilidad, a las que llamó "juguetes del viento". Generalmente son estructuras metálicas formadas por una composición de elementos geométricos que giran con la acción del viento, interactuando entre sí. Se están realizando los diversos bocetos que dejó tras su muerte y las esculturas móviles se colocan en distintas partes de las Islas Canarias.
This sculpture is located in the centre of the square in front of the Auditorio de Tenerife, the Castillo de San Juan and the Parque Marítimo César Manrique, in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. It was built in 2001 by Aquilino Dorta Pérez, although it was designed by César Manrique, whose sketches to make it were interpreted by Juan Amigó and José L. Olcina.
