Walthamstow Central station originated as Hoe Street on the Great Eastern Railway in 1870, later becoming a major interchange with the opening of the Victoria line on September 1, 1968. It serves as the northeastern terminus for the Victoria line and is a key stop on the London Overground Chingford branch.
