Este caché te llevara al mercado de Colón, ubicado en el corazón del barrio Ensanche (Eixample). Este edificio, concebido y realizado por el arquitecto Francisco Mora Berenguer entre los años 1914 y 1916 como un mercado municipal en el emplazamiento de la antigua fábrica de gas del Marqués de Campo, es uno de los mejores ejemplos de la arquitectura del modernismo valenciano de principios de siglo XX. Su arquitectura basada en estructuras metalicas se asemeja a una estación de tren, y también a una basílica. El proyecto estuvo influenciado por las corrientes modernistas catalanas de Doménech i Montaner, Puig i Cadafalch, etc.
El mercado fue inaugurado el 24 de diciembre de 1916, el dia de Navidad. Como la reina de la fiesta i del mercado fue elegida señorita Elenita Durá.
Actualmente es el edificio con mayor concentración de productos gourmet y propuestas gastronómicas de la ciudad de Valencia, con una veintena de tiendas, cafés, bares y restaurantes en una superficie total de 3500 m⊃2;. La parte del mercado (frutería, carnicería, pescadería etc.) es pequeña y está ubicada en el sótano. El edificio del mercado también acoge ferias de artesanía, exposiciones, conciertos y otros eventos.
Para encontrar el tesoro del mercado, tendrás que hacer un poco de matemática.
