Zvirgzdes mežā dzīvo daudz iemītnieku.
Daži aug lēni, daži ātri, bet katram ir savs stāsts.
Ja esi šeit nonācis, ir laiks iepazīties ar vienu no tiem.
Vaivariņš (Ledum palustre) – “purva smaržīgais pavedinātājs”
Čau, ceļotāj!
Es esmu vaivariņš – viens no noslēpumainākajiem un… jā, arī nedaudz viltīgākajiem šī meža iemītniekiem.
Tu mani atradīsi nevis sausā priežu mežā, bet pie Aklā ezera, kur zeme kļūst mīkstāka, tumšāka un mazliet neparedzamāka.
Un jau tagad tu droši vien saproti –
šeit viss nav tik vienkārši kā citur.
Par manu mājvietu
Es dzīvoju tur, kur:
zeme ir mitra vai pat purvaina
katrs solis jāliek uzmanīgi
un kur neuzmanīgs gājiens var nozīmēt… slapjas kājas
Lai tiktu līdz manīm, tev, iespējams, nācās:
šķērsot ūdens pilnu grāvi
un varbūt pat nedaudz lekt pāri (labs gājiens 😏)
Te nav pastaiga.
Te ir mazs piedzīvojums.
Par manu dzīvi
Vaivariņš ir neliels, bet ļoti īpašs augs.
Dzīvoju mitrās un purvainās vietās
Augu lēni, bet stabilā vidē
Esmu daļa no purva ekosistēmas, kur viss notiek savā tempā
Smarža, kas nav tik nevainīga
Ja tu mani sajuti, tad zini — mana smarža ir:
spēcīga
saldena
un… mazliet apreibinoša
Bet uzmanies.
Manas ēteriskās eļļas var:
radīt reiboni, vai pat galvassāpes, ja ar mani pārāk ilgi “uzkavēsies”.
Skaists? Jā.
Nevainīgs? Ne gluži.
Dzīvība purvā pie Aklā ezera
Mana dzīvesvieta ir pie Aklā ezera - neliels, kluss un nedaudz noslēpumains meža ezers.
Šādi ezeri bieži veidojas purvainās vietās un tiem raksturīgs:
tumšāks ūdens, ko iekrāso kūdra,
ļoti mierīga vide, bez lielas cilvēku kustības,
apkārtne ar sūnām, purva augiem un mitru augsni
Nosaukums “aklais” nenozīmē, ka ezers neko neredz…
Drīzāk tas nozīmē, ka tam nav redzamas noteces vai ietekas – ūdens tajā ienāk un izzūd lēni, gandrīz nemanāmi.
Tādas vietas bieži šķiet klusākas, noslēgtākas un mazliet… mistiskas...
Ap mani dzīvo:
kukainīši, kas pielāgojušies mitrumam
vardes
dažādi purva augi un sūnas
Šī vieta ir citāda nekā pārējais mežs –
klusāka, mitrāka un mazliet mežonīgāka.
Mani kaimiņi
Man patīk dzīvot kopā ar:
sfagnu sūnām
dzērvenēm
citiem purva augiem
Šeit mēs veidojam pavisam citu pasauli nekā sausajā mežā.

Agrāk cilvēki izmantoja vaivariņu:
lai atbaidītu kukaiņus
un pat ievietoja skapjos, lai pasargātu drēbes
Bet jā – ar mani jābūt uzmanīgiem.
Es esmu viens no tiem augiem, kas negrib pārāk ciešu draudzību.

Labrador Tea (Ledum palustre) – “the fragrant swamp seducer”
Hello, traveler!
I am Labrador tea — one of the most mysterious and… yes, slightly tricky residents of this forest.
You won’t find me in the dry pine forest, but near Lake Aklā, where the ground becomes softer, darker, and a little unpredictable.
And by now, you’ve probably realized —
things are not as simple here as elsewhere.
About my home
I live where:
the ground is wet or even swampy, every step must be taken carefully and one careless move might mean… wet feet
To reach me, you probably had to:
cross a water-filled ditch and maybe even jump over it (nice move!)
This is not just a walk.
This is a small adventure.
About my life
Labrador tea is a small but very special plant.
I grow in wet and boggy areas
I develop slowly but steadily
I am part of a bog ecosystem, where everything moves at its own pace
A scent that isn’t so innocent
If you noticed me, then you’ve probably smelled me too.
My scent is:
strong
sweet
and… slightly intoxicating
But be careful.
My essential oils can:
cause dizziness or even headaches if you stay too close for too long
Beautiful? Yes.
Harmless? Not quite.
Life in the bog near the Blind lake "Aklais ezers"
My home is near a blind lake— a small, quiet, and slightly mysterious forest lake.
Lakes like this often form in boggy areas and are known for:
dark-colored water, tinted by peat,
a very calm environment, with little human disturbance,
surroundings filled with mosses, bog plants, and moist soil
The name “Aklais” (“blind”) doesn’t mean the lake cannot see…
It means it has no visible inflow or outflow — the water comes and goes slowly, almost unnoticed.
Places like this often feel quieter, more isolated, and just a little… mysterious.
Around me, you may find:
insects adapted to wet environments
frogs,
various bog plants and mosses.
This place is different from the rest of the forest, it is quieter, wetter, and a bit more wild.
My neighbors
I like living together with:
sphagnum moss
cranberries
other bog plants
Together we create a completely different world from the dry forest.
Interesting fact
In the past, people used Labrador tea:
to repel insects
and even placed it in wardrobes to protect clothes
But yes — I’m one of those plants that doesn’t enjoy too close of a friendship.
