It's our second year of celebrating "Geo Mates Day", which has its origin in Australia (May 8 sounds a bit like "mate") and which is all about friendship, support and connecting with other people. Geocaching is a great way of making friends, both at home and while traveling. We have met many wonderful cachers through hosting and attending events everywhere we go. We've been given free geocoins, free fast track entry to a major tourist attraction, taxi service to remote caches in places where we didn't have a hire car, help with puzzle solving, good company during long and short walks, the list goes on.....
"World GeoMay8 Day" is the brain child of Aussie cacher Calypso62. If you're lucky enough to visit Sydney you are bound to come across some of his excellent hides. He would love to see his idea spread across the world, so let's be good mates and celebrate this day of friendship here in northern Scotland as well.
This year we'll be at Inverness Botanic Garden, hopefully in the cafe if it isn't too busy. As usual, bring your caching stories and questions, swap and discover trackables, and enjoy an afternoon with friendly people. There is a large car park right outside the garden which, at time of posting, was free to use (the ticket machines are for voluntary payments).
