This CITO event will be a leisurely walk along a permissive footpath that was once the trackbed of the Giling to Pickering Railway line.
A group of local Helmsley residents have over the last 10 years been slowly creating a pleasant 'out and back' path. What was once a boggy trackbed now has a hardcore base and is well drained.
The walk will head eastwards from the stated coordinates and we will be collecting any rubbish we may come across. We may come across a collection of small buckets containing small stones. The volunteers who are restoring the path would grateful if we could help them by moving them closer to the next section of the trackbed being made up into a footpath..
