This cache is the first in a short series of hides based in Tong, Eastling. Although this cache is roadside and can be treated as a cache-and-dash, it is recommended that you park in the village and do the full Tong Walk. This will take about an hour. Tong lies to the south-west of the village and includes the 15th-century Tong House, and a part of a 13th-century cottage at Pig Green (Crow Cottage).
Tong probably gets its name from the Saxon Thwang - long, thin strips, generally of sturdy fiber or leather, typically used for binding.
