I tucked something small back here on the rain gutter and it hit me how close I used to be to this spot without ever realizing it mattered.
When I was about 12, this was basically my orbit. School would let out, and I’d take the same route every day—cutting through the same sidewalks and corners, probably passing right by here without a second thought. Backpack half open, dragging behind me, already thinking about getting home in time.
Because once DuckTales came on, that was it.
I can still see it—dropping my bag by the door, grabbing whatever snack I could find, and planting myself in front of the TV like it was part of the routine. That theme song kicked in and everything else faded out. Scrooge diving into gold, the chaos, the adventures… it made an ordinary afternoon feel like something bigger.
Funny how something like that sticks with you. Not the big moments—just the rhythm of it. The walk home. The anticipation. The feeling that something good was waiting just a few minutes ahead.
Standing here now, I realize I must’ve passed this exact spot hundreds of times without noticing it. Back then, I was always on my way somewhere else.
This time, I stopped.
And I left a little piece of that feeling behind. It’s nothing flashy, nothing you’ll spot right away—but if you slow down and take a closer look, you might just find it.
