A 928-as számú Sárvár–Zalabér‑Batyk vasútvonal a 20. század elejének egyik jellegzetes helyi érdekű vasútvonala volt, amely a Dunántúl kisebb településeit kötötte össze. A vonal Sárvárról indult, ahol csatlakozott a 20-as számú fővonalhoz, majd számos megállón haladt át, köztük Sitke, Gérce, Vásárosmiske, Káld és Pusztalánc állomásain. A végpontja a Zalabér‑Batyk állomás volt, ahol további mellékvonalakhoz kapcsolódott.
A vonal megnyitása 1913 novemberében történt, és gyorsan fontos szerepet töltött be a térség személy- és áruforgalmában. A vonat a helyiek mindennapjait szolgálta, de egyes állomásokon postai forgalmat is lebonyolított, így a vasút szerepe túlmutatott a puszta közlekedésen. A 928-as vonal különlegessége, hogy a Trianon előtti időkben egészen Répcevisig és azon túl Ausztria felé is tartott, de a határok módosulása miatt ez a szakasz megszakadt.
A vonal mellékvonal jellege miatt nem fővonalként, hanem regionális összeköttetést biztosító helyi vonalként működött. A 20. század második felében azonban a forgalom fokozatosan visszaesett, és a közlekedéspolitikai irányelvek értelmében a kis forgalmú vonalakat megszüntették. Így a 928-as vonalat 1975-ben bezárták, a síneket felszedték, és a nyomvonala ma már csak nyomokban követhető.
Bár a vonal ma már nem működik, az egykori állomások, mint például Vásárosmiske, a térség vasúti múltjának fontos emlékei maradtak. A vonal története jól példázza, hogy a vasút a vidéki települések életében milyen meghatározó szerepet játszott, és milyen gyorsan változhat a közlekedés és a térségi kapcsolatok rendszere a történelmi és politikai változások hatására.

The No. 928 Sárvár–Zalabér‑Batyk railway line was a characteristic local branch line of the early 20th century, connecting smaller towns in western Hungary. The line started at Sárvár, where it linked to the main Line 20, and passed through several stations, including Sitke, Gérce, Vásárosmiske, Káld, and Pusztalánc, before reaching its terminus at Zalabér‑Batyk, where it connected to other branch lines.
Opened in November 1913, the line quickly became important for both passenger and freight transport in the region. It served the daily life of local residents, and at some stations, it even handled postal services, giving it a role beyond simple transportation. A unique feature of the line was that, before the Treaty of Trianon, it extended all the way to Répcevis and even toward Austria, but this section was cut off after the borders changed.
Being a branch line, it functioned as a regional connector rather than a main route. In the second half of the 20th century, traffic gradually declined, and in line with transport policies of the time, many low-traffic lines were closed. Consequently, the 928 line was shut down in 1975, and the tracks were removed, leaving only traces of its former route.
Although no longer in operation, the former stations, such as Vásárosmiske, remain important reminders of the region’s railway history. The line’s story illustrates the crucial role railways once played in the life of rural communities and how quickly transportation networks and regional connections can change due to historical and political events.

Die Bahnstrecke Nr. 928 Sárvár–Zalabér‑Batyk war eine typische lokale Nebenbahn des frühen 20. Jahrhunderts, die kleinere Städte in Westungarn verband. Die Strecke begann in Sárvár, wo sie an die Hauptstrecke Nr. 20 anschloss, und führte über mehrere Stationen, darunter Sitke, Gérce, Vásárosmiske, Káld und Pusztalánc, bis zum Endbahnhof Zalabér‑Batyk, wo sie Anschluss an weitere Nebenstrecken hatte.
Die Eröffnung erfolgte im November 1913, und die Strecke wurde schnell für den Personen- und Güterverkehr in der Region wichtig. Sie diente dem täglichen Leben der Einheimischen, und an einigen Stationen wurden sogar Postdienste abgewickelt, wodurch die Bahn eine Funktion über den reinen Transport hinaus erhielt. Besonders interessant war, dass die Strecke vor dem Vertrag von Trianon bis nach Répcevis und sogar in Richtung Österreich führte, dieser Abschnitt jedoch nach der Grenzänderung unterbrochen wurde.
Als Nebenbahn diente sie vor allem als regionale Verbindung und nicht als Hauptstrecke. In der zweiten Hälfte des 20. Jahrhunderts nahm der Verkehr allmählich ab, und viele wenig genutzte Strecken wurden im Rahmen der Verkehrspolitik stillgelegt. Folglich wurde die 928er Strecke 1975 geschlossen, und die Gleise wurden entfernt, sodass nur noch Spuren ihrer ehemaligen Trasse sichtbar sind.
Obwohl die Strecke heute nicht mehr in Betrieb ist, bleiben ehemalige Stationen wie Vásárosmiske wichtige Zeugnisse der Eisenbahngeschichte der Region. Die Geschichte der Bahn verdeutlicht, welche zentrale Rolle die Eisenbahn einst im Leben ländlicher Gemeinden spielte und wie schnell sich Verkehrsnetze und regionale Verbindungen aufgrund historischer und politischer Ereignisse verändern können.
A láda a vasútállomástól 1 km-re található a vasútvonal egyik régi hídján, amit a helyiek felújítottak. A vasútállomás épülete nem látogatható, mert ma lakóházként funkcionál.
The cache is located 1 km from the train station, on an old bridge along the railway line that has been restored by the locals. The train station building is not accessible, as it now serves as a residential house.
